Web design

A site that says what you do, and loads before anyone gives up.

The problem this solves

Most sites we are asked to replace are not ugly. They are slow, they were built for a business that has since changed, and nobody on the team can edit them without calling someone. The copy describes an offering from three years ago. The phone layout was an afterthought. And the person who built it is unreachable.

That is a business problem, not a design problem. A visitor who waits four seconds on a phone is usually gone before they have read your first sentence.

How we work

We start with what each page has to accomplish — who arrives, what they need to know, and what they should be able to do next. Design follows that, not the other way around.

The build is static wherever it can be, which is why these pages load the way they do. There is no CMS to log into unless you want one, no plugin that breaks on a Tuesday, and no monthly licence for something you use twice a year.

What you end up owning

The code, in a repository in your name. The domain, in your account. The hosting, on a plan you control and can move. We are happy to keep maintaining it — most clients ask us to — but the point is that you could hand it to somebody else tomorrow and they would find a normal, readable project rather than a puzzle.

Who this is for

Businesses whose site is the first thing a customer sees and the last thing anyone has updated. Practices, studios, agencies and trades who need to look like what they have become. And anyone who has been quoted a five-figure sum for a template.
